New Graves Gallery Art Opening

By on May 25, 2010

Fullerton, CA (Tuesday, May 25, 2010) – Graves Gallery is excited to announce the opening of a new exhibition, entitled “Intrepretations3,” featuring renowned Fullerton artists Fay Colmar, Marjorie Kerr and Virginia Spencer. The show’s opening reception will coincide with the next First Friday Artwalk in Downtown Fullerton on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at 114 E. Amerige Avenue in Fullerton, CA. The opening will also include entertainment by local eclectic band Collusion of Souls, and complimentary food tastings by Café Hidalgo, with wine provided by Graves Gallery. The exhibition will run through June 25, 2010.

The works of these three artists offer bright, bold and unique perspectives on the world around us. A strong reliance on color, pattern, texture and imagery help to tie the different works together while retaining the distinct character of each of the artists. All three artists hold degrees in art from Cal State University, Fullerton, and their works have been a part of numerous exhibitions and shows, as well as in a large number of private collections.

Fay Colmar’s unique usage of texture, three dimensional objects and color intrigue the senses and draw audiences into her works for more careful introspection. Marjorie Kerr uses inspiration from her travels to create her “Horizons,” which use pastel and strong color to reflect on the meditative and emotive quality of the scenes. Virginia Spencer’s work exhibits her interest in the ritualistic character of lives, the structure and patterns which visually recreate the human experience.
