FULLERTON, CA— Autism author and literacy advocate Monica Holloway will host an Autism-Friendly Literacy Brunch for charity, including 20% of brunch proceeds to benefit Autism Speaks OC with matching proceeds, up to $1,000, to benefit the National Center for Family Literacy, on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bourbon Street Bar & Grill located at 110 East Commonwealth Avenue in Fullerton.

Holloway will provide a book reading and signing for autism memoir Cowboy & Wills, and will speak on the importance of literacy and its impact on family.

Garden Grove resident Julie Chau Diep, MS, CCC-SLP, Clinical Director at New Hope Therapy Center in Garden Grove and a Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in autism, will speak on the topic of “Communications and Literacy.” Diep is also the Executive Director of OC Autism, a nonprofit organization that addresses the needs of Orange County families affected by autism and related disorders.

Cost to attend the California Cajun cuisine brunch is $27 for adults (including endless champagne) and $13.50 for children. For brunch reservations, call Bourbon Street at (714) 626-0050.

Event attendees will also have the opportunity to nominate wonders for Wonderopolis.org, a program of the National Center for Family Literacy, featuring a daily “Wonder of the Day,” with the goal of providing learning moments in everyday life.
