First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Fullerton Lights Up with New Art Works on July 2nd!

Fullerton, CA (Monday, June 28, 2010) –Local art galleries and downtown venues are preparing to host the monthly “First Friday Art Walk” in Downtown Fullerton, which will be held on July 2, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The incredibly popular Art Walk brings hundreds of art lovers and Fullertonians to fill the streets of Downtown Fullerton and various venues hosting art shows for the event. Families and art lovers are encouraged to come to Downtown Fullerton and enjoy an evening of over twenty venues of free art activities and exhibition openings within walking distance of each other. Maps will be provided at each venue providing a guided tour. Free refreshments are also provided throughout the evening at many of the stops.

Here is some of what you can expect to see and experience:

Blanquel Art on Wood Presents: A unique carved tree trunk of various animals as well as a coffee table made with old horseshoes and worm wood, as well as arts and crafts and furniture pieces from different parts of Mexico.

Fullerton Museum Center Presents: American Trash/American Treasure: Art by Michael Leighton Coffey. Mr. Coffey’s assemblages pay homage to American pop culture and its ongoing struggle against mass consumption and consumerism. Please join us as we celebrate the art with thoughtful discussions and refreshments in the Foyer Gallery.

Graves Gallery Presents: “Piece Be With You,” featuring talented Fullerton artist William Zdan. Zdan’s masterful and intense works are guaranteed to encourage introspection and analysis of the world around us. The artist remarked that “I create art with the hope to capture beauty while provoking contemplation. What I want to offer the viewer is an experience that is ethereal and visually appealing…but that also delivers a message.” His portrayals of modern industry, politics, and contemporary culture are bold, innovative and thought-provoking, and are sure to generate emotion and conversation amongst viewers.

Hibbleton Gallery Presents: A show called “The T-Shirt Show” featuring original, artist-designed t-shirts. It’s a massive group show.

Max Bloom’s Café Presents: The work of Holly Gratner aka “Holly Dolly”, a local Fullerton photographer who specializes in Boudoir photography

PÄS Gallery Presents: “Beau Les Filles” (Beautiful Girls) on Friday, July 2nd, 6-10pm featuring photography (Harajuku Girls in Tokyo’s underground culture) from Ingrid Joy and paintings (Mix of watercolor, acrylic and ink on wood of lovely muses on vibrantly colored backdrops) from Artemis Nolasco. There will be a DJ “June22″ spinning a variety of dance music (English and Japanese). This event will support Abeni, a group of women who are dedicated to loving those working within the adult entertainment industry.

Terra Bella Salon Presents: The work of photographer Steve Broswick, from the art colony in San Pedro. He has a collection of butterflies. Also showing Aboreal Illusions, the work of Sherry Riggs.

Village Art Center Presents: Mike Major is the featured artist. Mike is exhibiting his art in pastel landscape paintings. He is inspired by the beauty of nature in his weekly hikes around Southern California; finding that “secret place” to paint. Come visit Mike on this special evening.
